Install Google Desktop on Vista 64 bit

Do the following:

  1. Download Google desktop
  2. Start a command prompt
  3. Browse to the directory where you have saved the downloaded file.
    (If you are not familiar with MS-Dos @ all, then you can download the file and store it on the root of your hard drive (i.e. C:\), then in the command prompt, simply type in
    cd C:\
  4. Type: GoogleDesktopSearch /force

Voila!

I tried it according to the instructions found at http://www.techsupportforum.com/microsoft-support/windows-vista-support/289111-solved-google-desktop-vista-64-bit-wont-install.html (same as your fix), and when I do the last enter I get the same message about Goggledesktop requires 32 bit etc. Brand new HP laptop....... How frustrating. Any more ideas?

  3. WOW!!! It worked!!! THANK YOU MUCHO MUCHO! I did not know how I was going to do with out. I did find however that it was necessary to type in GoodleDesktopSetup/force on the download I did. You have really helped me, a person you don't even know. Bless you. Joel

    GoogleDesktopSetup.exe /force
    at the Command Prompt.
